Andy Teo is both a Developmental Optometrist and an Educator managing Learning Difficulties. He graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Optometry from Salus University, Pennsylvania College of Optometry (US), a Master's course in Behavioural Optometry at University of New South Wales (AUS) and a diploma in Learning Disorders Management and Child Psychology by The College of Teachers (UK), he receives referrals from both Doctors, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Educators to assist children with poor Visual Skills related to Learning.

He runs his assessments through his Vision Therapy facility at his Preschool, Early Learning's Fun Preschool. Currently, he also serve as an external consultant to Developmental Practices in China and Indonesia, to assist children with Learning Related Vision Difficulties, Brain Injury, Amblyopia, Squints (Eye Turn) and Vision issues related to genetic disorders.

Having suffered from visual problems from a young age, and having his cataract surgery at age 8, developing amblyopia (lazy eyes), double vision and a intermittent squint, Andy understands the impact of poor vision and poor development. Today, he assists children with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, ADHD, Developmental Coordination Disorder, etc to improve visual skills associated with learning, vision therapy for the amblyopia (Lazy Eye), squint conditions (Eye Turn) and provides vision rehabilitation to children who has suffered from low vision to more severe cases such as traumatic brain injury, to improve on their functional skills. He also co-develops the early childhood curriculum at ELF Preschool, and is often engaged in talks and training to various professionals working with children.

Eulisia works with neurotypical children and those with special needs from 18 months to 65 years of age and across a spectrum of presentations. She has extensive experience in conducting assessments, behaviour management support and psychological interventions to individuals with special educational and developmental needs. She also has a keen interest in early intervention, home-school partnership and parenting.

 

Eulisia has previously worked at Early Intervention Programmes for Infants and Children (EIPIC) Centres, Special Schools, DAS, MOE and numerous private clinics. She believes that early intervention is the key to helping children develop and adapt to society as best as they can. It gives her great satisfaction to know that she has played a role in helping the children progress in their lives. In 2012, Eulisia was also one of the first psychologists to be involved in the implementation of a Transdisciplinary framework at a government-funded EIPIC Centre. The transdisciplinary framework is recognized as a best practice for early intervention. It adopts a family-centered systematic approach to early intervention that integrates the assessment, goal development, intervention and evaluation processes, to meet the complex needs of children with disabilities and their families.

 

Apart from individual sessions with children, Eulisia believes that parenting and a strong partnership between teachers, parents and their psychologists is critical to the optimal development of children. In the past decade, Eulisia has equipped parents, caregivers and teachers with knowledge and strategies to better understand and manage their children’s developmental needs. She has helped numerous parents and teachers understand the significance of building healthy relationships with their children as a basis for positive behavioural changes and skills acquisition.

 

Beyond her current job scope, Eulisia holds various pro-bono appointments in the public sector. She volunteers as the Deputy Chair in the Singapore Psychological Society’s Research Committee. In addition, she helps out as a Victim Care Officer with the Singapore Police Force to provide care services to victims of serious sexual crimes. Eulisia also volunteers as an Appropriate Adult, under the Appropriate Adult Scheme, to provide assistance to persons with intellectual or mental disability (PWIDs) who are required to give a statement to the Police during investigations. Eulisia was also involved in the Hayes Ability Screening Index (HASI) test study, which was a pilot-study on accused persons with intellectual disabilities, jointly conducted by the Law Society of Singapore, the Singapore Psychological Society and the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). Eulisia was actively involved in the pilot project whereby HASI was used to identify potential persons with intellectual disabilities at the point of arrest when an offence was committed.

Known for her person-centred and holistic approach, Yuyun is passionate about supporting and empowering her clients to the best of her ability. To tailor to each individual's unique situation, she employs evidence-based techniques and expressive therapies, such as Person-Centred Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. With over 14 years of experience, Yuyun has a special focus on working with children and adolescents where she then draws on Child-Centred Play Therapy and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, and has also participated in family dispute resolution meetings to advocate for the child's needs. She is a certified substance abuse and gambling counsellor.

Yuyun holds a Master's Degree in Counselling, as well as two Postgraduate Diplomas in Psychology and  in Counselling from Murdoch University. She is a member of Singapore Association for Counselling, National Peak Board for Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Australia, and the Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors in Singapore. Yuyun has shared her clinical knowledge through public forums, polytechnics and most recently, spoken at national conferences in Australia about applying collaborative and systemic approach in working with children. She has also conducted public education workshops to support the community needs.

Hui Xin is an Accredited Dietitian of Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association (SNDA). She graduated with First-class Honors in Bachelor of Science (Dietetics) and has more than 13 years of clinical experience working in both restructured and private hospitals including Singapore General Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and St Luke’s Community Hospital. She has extensive dietetic knowledge in specific clinical areas including weight management, diabetes, rehabilitation, oncology, nephrology and gastroenterology in adults.

 

Hui Xin founded her nutrition consultancy firm called Healthier U in July 2019. She has great passion in empowering people to adopt healthy diet and lifestyle so that they can live a longer live to fulfill their dreams. Currently, she collaborates with doctors and healthcare practitioners to provide dietary advice to clients requiring nutritional intervention. She advises public on nutrition through media interview and community health events. She also conducts corporate health talks and cooking demonstrations.

 

Hui Xin also has great interest in children nutrition and has experience in handling picky eater, underweight children, children with food allergies as well as children with excess weight issue. She is also a mother of 2 young kids with the passion of educating and coaching parents and children to adopt healthier eating habits. She strongly believes that parents have strong influence on a kid’s eating behaviour and early-life experiences with healthy foods will promote healthy eating.

Formerly a journalist, Chen Wei Teng found her calling in teaching when she discovered her passion in helping children and teenagers with literacy difficulties master the English language. She has 18 years of experience providing effective interventions and support to young learners struggling with literacy.

At NorthLight School, Wei Teng worked closely with teenagers facing learning challenges, including dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), many of whom came from challenging or disadvantaged family backgrounds. Her dedication and impact were recognized through the "Caring Teachers' Award" bestowed upon her by the National Institute of Education and Nanyang Technological University in 2022.

 

She was nominated for the "Inspiring Teacher of English – Teaching Award" in 2022, which recognises teachers who help ignite in students a love for English. Additionally, her students nominated her for the esteemed LEAP Award ("Listening Educator for Advancement and Progress Award") presented by the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan. The award seeks to recognise teachers who made leaps of faith to believe that students have the potential to excel beyond their capabilities.

Wei Teng previously also served as a Senior Educational Therapist at the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS), where she played a pivotal role in leading the curriculum team in designing comprehensive frameworks for dyslexic students, focusing on speaking, listening, writing, and grammar. She also actively contributed to the development of teacher training programs.

Additionally, Wei Teng has conducted numerous talks and workshops for educational therapists, allied educators, special needs officers, teachers, and parents. She has worked with educators not only in Singapore, but also in countries such as Nepal and Cambodia. Her expertise lies in equipping individuals with the skills to engage and support learners with specific learning differences such as dyslexia. ​With her extensive experience in teaching and writing, she has also conducted talks and workshops for various organizations, including the National Library Board (Singapore), Scholastic Education International (Singapore), the Singapore Book Council, and the Asian Festival for Children’s Content (AFCC). Her sessions are designed for educators, parents, and fellow creatives in the publishing industry.​

 

Wei Teng holds an honors degree in Psychology from the National University of Singapore and a Masters of Arts in Teaching English to Young Learners (with distinctions) from the University of York (UK), which showcases her multidisciplinary approach to education. She also obtained a Diploma in Dyslexia Studies from the DAS and received comprehensive training in the Orton-Gillingham approach, further enriching her expertise in the field.

Upon returning from Switzerland in 2007, Nina devoted her time in the upbringing of her 3 young children. Even then, Nina continues to help other children in their educational need.

 

From 2012, she started to attend workshops, seminars and lectures on maths learning differences and dyscalculia. She then went on to specialise in teaching children with mild learning disorder including autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia. She has since been with Dyslexia Association for more than 8 years supporting learners with numeracy difficulties. Besides being involved in the planning and teaching of children, Nina also conducts practicum with the teachers.

 

The progress and development of her students are her utmost reward and satisfaction. She strongly believes that each child is different and deserved to be appreciated for who they are. She desires to join these children in her care, uncover their potential.

Amanda has more than a decade of experience teaching students - typically developing and special educational needs - ranging from primary to tertiary levels. She taught students with a wide range of needs ranging from dyslexia to intellectual disability to acquired head injury. She has consistently demonstrated innovative thinking in crafting individualised solutions that are customised to the needs of every student. She also pioneered approaches to teach students who do not respond - or show little progress - to the typical dyslexia / literacy intervention (see publication | research).

 

Beyond the education domain, Amanda is also involved in therapy of a person’s neurophysiology. She is a firm believer of the intrinsic relationship between cognition/behaviour and neurophysiology, and the adverse effects that imbalances in the nervous system have on learning.

 

Above all, Amanda understands the degree of interference that comorbidities have on learning – inevitably reducing the levels of responsiveness to gold standard intervention approaches in the process. This understanding is further underscored with the management of many cases with complex needs – including her own nervous system and cognition. She assists in vision therapy, is a certified sound therapist and actively pursues knowledge in other therapeutic approaches involving the modulation of the nervous system.

 

Apart from the typical phonics instruction and the consultation of any learning-related matters (for any age/diagnosis or lack thereof), Amanda specialises in the following areas:

Maureen is an avid educator who believes in the transformative power of quality early childhood education. She exudes a natural affinity for understanding the unique needs of each child under her care. Maureen takes the time to understand each child's background, interests, and developmental stage. This personal connection allows her to create a safe and nurturing space where children feel valued and supported. She recognises the importance of building strong relationships not only with her students but also with their families, fostering a sense of community within her classroom.

 

Maureen has a strong research background. She held research assistant and associate positions at A*STAR, Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (Nutrition & Behaviour team) and the National Institute of Education. Backed by her staunch belief in the benefits of movement-based learning, Maureen embarked on a Masters programme and completed her thesis entitled "Teachers’ Perspective on Movement Activities and how They Influence Learning and Social-emotional Wellbeing of Preschool Children in Singapore". Maureen now aims to further her knowledge by embarking on PhD research to understand movement based learning and their association with brain activation. She hopes that the data would provide insights and evidence for the broader implementation of movement based learning in preschools in future.

 

Beyond her academic interests, Maureen indulges in a myriad of various outdoor activities - with a special interest in rock climbing.
